How Did Queen Sundardei Attain Liberation After Facing Yamdoots at the Time of Death?

The divine narration of Kabir, as shared with Dharamdas, presents a deeply detailed and striking account of Queen Sundardei, the younger queen of King Bir Singh Baghel. This account reveals exactly what happened to her at the time of death, how she encountered the messengers of death, and how her destiny changed through the intervention of her Satguru. Queen Sundardei: Initiated but Lacking Practice

Queen Sundardei had already received initiation from Kabir Sahib. She had listened to many spiritual discourses and was familiar with the teachings. However, her faith was weak, and she did not engage in the practice of Naam. Although she had taken initiation, she did not perform the required spiritual effort.

She lived a life of comfort, surrounded by royal luxuries, and did not fully believe that the teachings she had heard would manifest as reality.

The Arrival of Yamdoots at the Final Moment

When the final moment of her life approached, messengers of Yamraj entered the royal palace. These Yamdoots then entered her body and began waiting for her last breath.

At that moment, Queen Sundardei became extremely restless. She began to see the Yamdoots clearly. Her condition changed, and she expressed to the king that nothing in the world—neither the kingdom, nor the palace, nor her ornaments—felt meaningful anymore.

She requested that saints and devotees be called so that discussions about God could take place. Saints and devotees gathered and began spiritual recitations and devotion, but this brought her no relief. Her suffering only increased.

Her breathing became irregular and labored. As her life force began to withdraw, her soul moved upward within the body in fear. At that moment, the Yamdoots surrounded her from all sides.

The Confrontation with the Messengers of Death

The Yamdoots told her to come with them, saying that she had been summoned by the Lord of justice. At that moment, the teachings she had previously heard began to arise in her memory.

She spoke firmly to the Yamdoots, telling them that they had no authority to take her. She declared that her Satguru was her true master and that she would only go when her Satguru came.

The Yamdoots responded that if she truly had a master, she should call Him. Otherwise, she would have to go with them.

Realisation at the Edge of Death

At this critical moment, Queen Sundardei realized the truth. Until then, she had doubted the teachings. She had believed that the spiritual knowledge she heard was merely a story, as her life had always been filled with comfort, obedience from servants, fine food, and luxury.

She had assumed that this enjoyment would continue indefinitely.

It was revealed that all her comfort was the result of accumulated good actions from previous lives. She had received initiation in this life but had not practiced it. As a result, when the effect of her past merits began to end, everything started to collapse.

Now, faced with the reality of death and the presence of Yamdoots, she understood that no one—neither family, nor power, nor wealth—could help her.

Calling Upon the Satguru

In complete helplessness, Queen Sundardei remembered her Satguru and called out sincerely from within her heart. She prayed for protection and asked to be saved from the Yamdoots.

At that very moment, Kabir Sahib appeared there.

The queen immediately ran to Him and held His feet. As soon as Kabir Sahib arrived, a radiant light filled the place. The Yamdoots fled immediately and went back to report to Yamraj that her Satguru had come and that a powerful light had appeared.

It was also revealed that the queen had at least remembered and recited the Sat Sukrit Naam, even if only slightly. Because of this, Kabir Sahib freed her from the Yamdoots and granted her an extension of life.

A Complete Transformation in Life

After being saved, Queen Sundardei underwent a complete transformation. She began to practice devotion with full sincerity and dedication.

Kabir Sahib again granted her Satnaam and Saarnaam, and this time she practiced with full commitment. Her perception of the world changed entirely. The kingdom, wealth, and family began to appear temporary and separate from her true self.

Realizing that her time was limited, she surrendered completely—body, mind, and wealth—to her Satguru and devoted herself fully to spiritual practice.

Arrival in Satlok and the Final Realisation

After completing her life with true devotion, Queen Sundardei attained Satlok.

There, in the divine presence of the Supreme God, a question was raised to Kabir Sahib in His Satguru form—how had the messengers of death been able to capture this soul?

Kabir Sahib replied that although she had taken initiation earlier, she had not practiced devotion at that time. That is why the Yamdoots had surrounded her. However, He had intervened and rescued her.

The soul of Queen Sundardei, standing humbly, admitted her mistake. She said that initially she did not believe. But after witnessing the suffering caused by the Yamdoots, she realized the truth, remembered her Satguru, and called out to Him. After being granted life again, she practiced devotion with full sincerity and, through the grace of her Satguru, reached Satlok.

A Complete Account of Rescue and Liberation

This narration presents a complete and detailed account of Queen Sundardei’s journey—from doubt to realisation, from fear to protection, and from neglect to complete devotion.

It shows exactly what happens at the time of death, how the messengers of Yamraj approach the soul, and how the presence and grace of the Satguru alone can provide protection and liberation.

Every stage of her experience is described clearly—from her initial lack of practice, to her confrontation with death, to her rescue, transformation, and ultimate attainment of Satlok through the guidance of Kabir Sahib.
