Saint Kabir's birth is understood to be a divine manifestation, not a conventional birth from a mother's womb. He is believed to have appeared on a lotus flower in the Lahar Tara pond in Varanasi, symbolizing his arrival from Satlok, his eternal realm. There he was found by a childless weaver couple named Niru and Nima who raised Sant Kabir as their own child.
Saint Kabir's Death
Maghar, a place near Gorakhpur was where Kabir left his physical body before returning to Satlok. When Saint Kabir departed to Saltok, he did not leave any mortal remains. Only scented flowers aligned in the shape of a human body were found where Sant Kabir died. These were equally divided by muslim and hindu followers of Sant Kabir who then built memorials by burying the flowers. Even today, two memorials of Saint Kabir can be found in Maghar next to each other, one belonging to the hindus and the other to muslims. This aligns with the view that Kabir’s life was beyond ordinary human experience and was a divine manifestation to impart spiritual knowledge.
