Saint Kabir is widely regarded as a divine incarnation, and there are varying accounts regarding his parentage, depending on spiritual perspectives and historical narratives:
In short, the name of father of Sant Kabir was Niru and the name of mother of Sant Kabir was Nima.
Historical View:
According to popular historical accounts, Kabir Das was found as an infant floating on a lotus flower in a pond near the city of Varanasi. He was adopted and raised by a Muslim weaver couple, Neeru (father) and Neema (mother).
Prior to being weavers, both Niru (Neeru) and Nima (Neema) were brahmins named Gauri Shankar and Saraswati respectively. Muslim priests had forcibly converted them to muslims and changed their names to Niru and Nima. The brahmins of Varanasi ostracised them due to this conversion and therefore both Niru and Nima resorted to weaving cloth and became weavers. As per tradition of the parents, Sant Kabir ji also adopted the same profession of a weaver while doing his divine play.
Spiritual Perspective:
From a spiritual standpoint, Kabir Das himself often declared that he had no worldly parents, emphasizing his divine origin. He proclaimed that he descended directly from the eternal abode (Satlok) as the Supreme God, assuming a human form to guide souls towards liberation. This is evident in numerous speeches by Saint Kabir. It is also evident from the profound knowledge given by Saint Kabir on every aspect of spirituality including answers to perplexing questions such as how the universe was created and who are the parents of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiv. Saint Kabir has given vivid description of both these enigmatic puzzles in his scripture Kabir Sagar.
Both interpretations coexist, reflecting the dual aspects of Saint Kabir as both a historical figure (role playing as a common man - a weaver) and a divine entity revered by his followers.
