Sant Garibdas Ji’s Verses on Nanak, Gorakh, and Ravidas

Minutes to read.

Sant Garibdas Ji’s verse serves as a beautiful, liberating reminder that whatever your inherent spiritual nature may be, true surrender to the Tatv Gyan paves a definitive way back home to the eternal abode. Among his most striking compositions is a set of verses found in the Paarakh Ka Ang (Verses 37–38). In these lines, Sant Garibdas Ji uses legendary spiritual icons - Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Guru Gorakhnath, Dattatreya, and Sant Ravidas Ji - not merely as historical individuals, but as spiritual archetypes representing distinct temperaments of seekers.

Paarakh Ka Ang (Verses 37–38)

Nau lakh Nanak naad mein aur das lakh Gorakh teer, Lakh dutt sangi sada charno charch Kabir.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji is universally revered for his deep humility, immaculate devotion, and complete surrender to the divine. Sant Garibdas Ji reveals that nine lakh (900,000) highly pious souls possessing this specific "Nanak-like" spiritual nature successfully crossed the terrifying ocean of worldly existence. By accepting refuge and connecting with the true primordial sound (Naad) or वचन (Word) of Supreme God Kabir, these gentle, loving seekers achieved absolute, permanent liberation.

Guru Gorakhnath represents the epitome of intense yogic discipline, mental control, and strict renunciation. The verse highlights that ten lakh (1,000,000) highly disciplined, intense souls matching the exceptional spiritual caliber of Gorakhnath achieved final salvation. Despite their unmatched yogic capabilities and severe austerities, these determined seekers ultimately required the shelter and Tatv Gyan of Kabir Sahib to successfully break free from the trap of Kaal.

Dattatreya represents the path of profound cosmic wisdom, scriptural understanding, and meditative focus. Sant Garibdas Ji states that one lakh (100,000) highly intellectual, wisdom-oriented souls possessing this deep meditative focus reside permanently under the spiritual shade of Kabir Sahib. Recognizing that all paths of deep philosophical inquiry naturally culminate in the Supreme Source, these enlightened souls spend eternity discussing, praising, and resting at His holy feet (चरणौं चरचि).

In this line, Sant Garibdas Ji purposefully repeats the formulas of the Nanak and Gorakh archetypes This repetition emphasizes the absolute certainty and mathematical precision of the divine law of salvation. It reinforces to the seeker that no matter how many hundreds of thousands of souls manifest with either deep emotional devotion (Naad) or rigid ascetic focus (Pass/Close proximity to spiritual discipline), they must all converge under the single umbrella of the Supreme Lord's true spiritual lineage to cross over safely.

Sant Ravidas Ji (Raidas) is celebrated for his absolute, unwavering faith untainted by worldly ego or caste structures. The text beautifully proclaims that crores (millions) of faithful, simple, and completely egoless souls who mirrored the pure, quiet bhakti exemplified by Sant Ravidas Ji have safely crossed over to the eternal, immortal abode of Satlok.

Beyond these counted categories, an infinite number of other saints and pure souls have ultimately merged into the true, eternal supreme state (Pad) by relying on the true spiritual guidance and grace of God Kabir.
