Summary of Ugra Gita

In Kabir Sagar, the 25th chapter titled Ugra Gita begins on page 5.

The teachings of the Gita are explained to Dharmdas Ji.

Dharmdas recites and interprets verses from the Gita (Ugra Gita):

Dharmdas Ji knew that saints guised as Jinda (living saints) are Muslims. As Muslims do not believe in rebirth, thus, he first recited verses related to this topic.

(Gita, Chapter 2, Verses 12 and 17, Chapter 4, Verses 5 and 9):

"Hey Arjun, apan janm-maran bahutere. Tum na janat, yaad hai mere.
Naash rahit Prabhu koi aur rahai. Jako koi maar sakta nahi."

"O Arjuna, you and I have experienced countless births and deaths. You do not remember them, but I do.
The imperishable Supreme Being exists elsewhere, one whom no one can destroy."

Then he recited verses from Geeta, Chapter 8, Verses 1 to 10:

"Arjun man jo shanka aayi. Krishna se poochha vinay laayi.
Hey Krishna tum Tat Brahm bataya. Adhyatma Adhibhoot janaya.
Vaka bhed batao daata. Mand mati hoon devo gyan vidhata."

(Gita, Chapter 8, Verses 1-2)

"Arjuna, troubled in mind, raised a query to Krishna with respect:
'O Krishna, you have mentioned Tat Brahm and spoken of Adhyatma and Adhibhoot.
Please explain their distinction, O divine teacher, for I am of weak intellect and seek your wisdom.'"
(Gita, Chapter 8, Verses 1-2)

"Krishna us bole baani, divya purush ki mahima bakhaani.
Tat Brahm param Akshar Brahm kahaya, jin sab Brahmand banaya.
Mam bhakti karo, moksh paayi. Yamai kuchh sanshay nahi."

(Gita, Chapter 8, Verses 5, 7)

Krishna responded. He glorified the divine being and spoke of its attributes:
Tat Brahm is called the supreme Akshar Brahm, who has created all the universes.
Devote to me, and you shall find liberation; there is no doubt in this.
(Gita, Chapter 8, Verses 5, 7)

"Jahan aasha, wahan baasha hoi. Man karm vachan sumriyo soi."
(Gita, Chapter 8, Verse 6)

What one longs for, dwells there; Remenisce the name of God with mind, speech, and action.
(Gita, Chapter 8, Verse 6)

"Jo hai sanatan avinashi Bhagwana. Waki bhakti kare, wa par jaana.
Jaise sooraj chamke aasmaana, aise Satpurush Satlok rahana.
Waki bhakti kare, wako paavai. Bahur nahi jag mein aavai."

(Gita, Chapter 8, Verses 8-10)

The eternal and indestructible Lord, one who worships Him, reaches Him.
As the sun shines in the sky, so the True Supreme Being resides in Satlok.
Worshipping Him, one attains Him, and one never returns to this world."
(Gita, Chapter 8, Verses 8-10)

"Mam mantra hai Om akela."
(Gita, Chapter 8, Verse 13)

My mantra is 'Om' alone.
(Gita, Chapter 8, Verse 13)

"Taka Om Tat Sat duhela."
(Gita, Chapter 17, Verse 23)

'Om Tat Sat' is the mantra of that Supreme God.
(Gita, Chapter 17, Verse 23)

"Tum Arjun, javo waki sharna. So hai Parmeshwar taran tarna."
(Gita, Chapter 18, Verses 62, 66)

Arjuna, take refuge in Him. He is the Supreme Being, the ultimate savior.
(Gita, Chapter 18, Verses 62, 66)

"Waka bhed param sant se jano. Tat gyan mein hai pramano."
(Gita, Chapter 4, Verse 34)

Understand this secret about Him from a true saint; evidence lie in tatvagyan.
(Geeta, Chapter 4, Verse 34)

"Wah gyan wah bolai aapa. Taate moksh poorn ho jaata."
(Gita, Chapter 4, Verse 32)

Such knowledge, He Himself reveals, which leads to complete liberation."
(Geeta, Chapter 4, Verse 32)

"Sab paap naash ho jaayi. Bahur nahi janm-maran mein aayi.
Mile sant koi tatvagyaani, phir wah pad khojo sahidaani.
Jahan jaye koi, laut na aaya. Jin yeh sansaar vriksh niramaaya."

(Gita, Chapter 15, Verse 4)

All sins are eradicated, and one does not return to the cycle of birth and death.
Once you meet a true enlightened saint, then search for that imperishable state,
Where one goes and never returns, the creator of this worldly tree."
(Gita, Chapter 15, Verse 4)

"Ab Arjun lehu vichaari, kath dihini Gita saari."
(Gita, Chapter 18, Verse 63)

Now, O Arjuna, reflect upon what I have narrated—the entire Geeta's essence.
(Gita, Chapter 18, Verse 63)

"Gupt bhed bataya saara. Tu hai moku aajeez pyaara."
(Gita, Chapter 18, Verse 63)

I have revealed the deepest secrets to you because you are dear to me.
(Gita, Chapter 18, Verse 63)

"Ati gupt se gupt bhed aur bataoon. Main bhi taako isht manaaoon."
(Gita, Chapter 18, Verse 64)

An even more profound and hidden truth I shall tell, I too consider Him as my God.
(Gita, Chapter 18, Verse 64)

"Je tu rehna meri sharna. Kabahu na mit hai janm ru marna.
Namaskar kar mohe sir naai. Mere paas rahega bhai."

(Gita, Chapter 18, Verses 65-66)

If you remain in my refuge, the cycle of birth and death will never end.
Revere and bow before me, you will stay by my side."
(Gita, Chapter 18, Verses 65-66)

"Beshak ja tu waki sharna. Mam dharm pooja moku dharna.
Phir na main tu kun kabahu rokun. Na man apne kar tu shokun."

(Gita, Chapter 18, Verse 66)

Undoubtedly, take refuge in Him. Relinquish my religious earnings unto me.
Neither will I ever hinder you, do not grieve."
(Gita, Chapter 18, Verse 66)

Aur anek shlok sunaya. Sun zinda ek prashn uthaya.

Numerous other verses were recited. Upon hearing them, Jinda Saint posed a question.

Jinda Baba (Kabir Ji) Vachan

He Vaishnav! Tav kaun Bhagwana. Kako yeh Gita bakhaana.

Dharmdas Vachan

Ram Krishna Vishnu avtaara. Vishnu Krishna hai Bhagwan humaara.
Shri Krishna Gita bakhaana. Ek ek shlok hai pramaana.
Je tum chaaho moksh karaana. Bhakti karo Avinaashi Bhagwana.
Vishnu ka kabahu naash na hoi. Sab jagat ke karta soi.
Teerth varat karoon man laavo. Pind daan aur shraddh karaavo.
Yeh pooja hai mukti maarg. Aur sab chale kumaarg.

Jinda Baba (Kabir Ji) Vachan

Jai Gita Vishnu roop mein Krishna sunaaya. Kah kai baar main naash mein aaya.1.
Avinaashi hai koi aur Vidhaata. Jo uttam Parmaatma kahaata.2.
Vah gyaan mokoon naahin. Vaako poocho sant sharanaai.3.
Avinaashi ki sharan mein jaao. Puni nahin janm-maran mein aao.4.
Main bhi isht roop taahi pooja. Avinaashi koi hai mote dooja.5.
Mam bhakti mantr Om akela. Vaaka Om Tat Sat duhela.6.
Main tokom poochho Gosaai. Tere Bhagwan maran ke maahin.7.
Hum bhakti vaaki chaahain. Jo nahin janm-maran mein aahai.8.
Je tum paas vah mantr hoi. To main pakka chela hoi.9.
Yahi baat ek sant sunaai. Ram Krishna sab maran ke maahin.10.
Avinaashi koi aur daata. Vaaki bhakti main bataata.11.
Wo kah main vaahi lok se aaya. Main hi hoon vah avigat raaya.12.
Aaj tum Gita mein farmaaya. Phir to vah sant saach kahaaya.13.
He Vaishnav! Tum bhi dhokhe maahin. Bartha aapan janm nashaahin.14.
Jo tu chaaho bhavsagar tirna. Ja ke gaho vaaki sharana.15.

Kabir Parmeshwar Ji explained the true knowledge to Dharmdas Ji using questions and answers directly from the Bhagavad Gita.

  • Vani 1 corresponds to Gita Chapter 4, Verse 5 and Chapter 2, Verse 12, where the Gita narrator says, "Arjun, you and I have taken many births. You do not know them, but I do."
  • Vani 2 explains the teachings from Gita Chapter 15, Verse 17.
  • Vani 3 refers to the knowledge in Gita Chapter 4, Verse 34.
  • Vani 4 elaborates on the descriptions in Gita Chapter 18, Verses 62 and 66, as well as Chapter 15, Verse 4.
  • Vani 5 discusses Gita Chapter 18, Verse 64, where Kaal states that his worshipped deity is also the same.
  • Vani 6 includes the teachings from Gita Chapter 8, Verse 13 and Chapter 17, Verse 23.

In subsequent verses, Kabir Parmeshwar Ji subtly refers to Himself, concealing His identity while revealing deeper truths.

Dharmdas Vachan

Isht kah karai nahin jaise. Seth Ji mukti pao kaise.)

Meaning: Dharamdas Ji requested Kabir Parmeshwar Ji, "O Lord! If you permit, may I bring some offerings for you to eat?" Parmeshwar replied, "I do not feel hunger. I sustain myself through the remembrance of Satnaam." Dharamdas Ji insisted, "If you do not accept my food, my agony will not end. Please partake of something." Kabir Ji then said, "Bring whatever you wish." Dharamdas brought sweets and sugar candies. Parmeshwar accepted the offering.

Kabir Ji then said, "O merchant Dharamdas! Grant me permission to visit my Guru in Kashi to receive His blessings." Dharamdas replied, "O Lord! When will I again have the fortune of seeing you? The best days of my life will be the ones when you return to me. Please accept me as your devoted servant—I speak with full faith." Kabir Ji blessed Dharamdas and departed. Dharamdas kept looking at the path He took, his heart overwhelmed with deep love and devotion for Parmeshwar.
